Balancing orange…

October 25, 2011 § 3 Comments

Orange radiates warmth and energy. This color can be stunning when done right—but this strong color can be hard to use.  In decorating, the boldness of orange is often tempered with white or neutrals. Another way to balance this color is to pair it with soft colors, like pale yellows or soft blues.  Try these well balanced palettes next time you use orange…

Lovely pictures, I used to have orange curtains like the ones below – beautful when the sun shone through and gave the room a coppery glow!

I love orange, it is so vibrant and a happy colour to feature in the home. Pantone has announced Tangerine as the colour for 2012, and I can see why. Thank you for your useful advice on the balancing of orange in the home, as it can be a tricky colour for people to co-ordinate with. I really like the pale yellow contrasted with orange, it works wonderfully and reminds me of a summers day.
